Q&A - Personal Info
Why do you like this sport?
I love cycling because it takes me to beautiful places, whether it's several miles down the road, to Boone, NC to train in the mountains, or to central Ohio to a race. I've been in lovely places and have seen incredible things with great friends that otherwise wouldn't have been a part of my life without cycling.
Why do you compete?
I like the strategies, sportsmanship, and abilities involved in competitive cycling. It's a high speed chess game.
What inspires you to compete?
Attaining the goals I set for the season.
Describe your style...
I like to sit in the pack for the first part of the race and just watch what others do. Many will attack only to be reeled back in. Others will do a lot of pointless work at the front, only tiring themselves out. After I get an idea of who's strong and who's a danger to win, I jump when they attack or I attack and try to get them to come with me. If we get away, then it's just me and a small handful instead of the whole field, and at that point, may the best man win.
Some Personal Information About Me:
I have been racing since 1991 and have had some success during that time. However, during the mid-2000's I took some time away from competing to start a small real estate investing business. Now, in late 2009, that business is pretty self-sufficient and I can devote more time to training and racing for the 2010 season.
