Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

I used to be a cross country runner in high school, and I decided to try a triathlon because they sounded fun. I was 16.

What are you planning for next season?

Next season, I am doing Ironman Wisconsin. I'm really excited, and pretty nervous.

Q&A - Personal

What inspires you to compete?

I really enjoy racing, so that's a big part of my inspiration. The other part is trying to be the best I can possibly be, the drive to always, always improve.

Why do you like this sport?

I love the individual nature of triathlon. Not in the sense that you don't need any teammates, but in the way that everybody competes against themselves. Everyone from professionals to age groupers is really racing against their own PR, trying to one-up themselves. It's awesome.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I train nearly every day. I take one day off every 2 weeks or so. I'm super busy- school, work, homework, training. On race day, it's all worth it.

Music?

I listen to music when I run, lift, and swim (thanks to H2O audio!). I do squats, deadlifts, pull ups, dips, bench, rows. No curls- ever. My music is usually a lot of hard rock.
