Why do you like this sport?

I picked flat water Kayaking because it is a Olympic sport i dreamed of one day getting there. As i have been in the sport for 3 years now iv moved up the ranks to become a national champ and achieve a youth Olympic bronze medal in my first international regatta. Now iv been away with the New Zealand High Performance Kayak team two years and things just keep getting better. I am now in a high Performance 2012 Olympic squad going for gold in London.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I train twice sometimes three times a day. Once in the morning in the gym and afternoon on the water doing two hour sessions. Every month i have a weekend regatta or testing to see how things are going and keep on track for the golds.

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

In my very first international race i fell out of my kayak at the start infront of heaps of people.

Music?

I like to listen to alot of music. music can calm me down and hipe me up so having my ipod with me before races is very important im very proud to have H2O Audio as a sponsor so i can take my music with me onto the water getting everything out of my body at race time and training.

Employment / Experience Summary

When i started the sport i was in school, during school i had dreams of been a builder and one day building my own place. Then i took to the kayak and won a tonne of gold junior medal at state and national level after that i was hooked. i set sail and left home moving to Gisborne, NZ to train with the national couch getting all the help i could.. Paddling is like a full time job for me but not brining in a income. After my paddling life is over im planing on becoming the builder.
