Way to kick butt Joe! Go Clydesdales!! Hope we get the chance to race together someday. I am pumped up about Ironman LP. It will be my first Iron Distance. It is so encouraging to see a big dude like you crushing it. Any advice is welcome. Keep up the good work!

Rick, I've done IMLP twice and the atmosphere and people are awesome. My advice is eat well on the bike. You will scream down the hills, I hit 50mph while coasting but the back section can be a high pressure area and it doesn't seem like you are going up hill but you are, it is about the last 10-15 miles of each loop and then you have about 1-1.5 mile easy ride in before you start the loop all over again. Get there at least 3- 4 days early and drive the course. The swim can be a little crowded but the water is clear and if you get the inside track you can see the bouy line underwater and it will help you swim a straight line the entire way. The run starts with a big downhill and slight up hill then another big down hill but is gently rolling to flat after that but you have to run back up the big downhills. I hope you have a great race. I'll be doing IM Louisville again this year, I went in undertarined last year and had a terrible race performance wise but a great time.

Good Luck,
Joe

  Joe,

Let's make sure we hook-up in Morgantown. Afterwards, the first round of whatever you care to drink is on me.

Thank YOU, Ranger.

Just caught your message about your hip. Man, always sorry to hear this kind of news. That truly blows! Your races up to IMLOU you had outstanding placements. Be proud of that for sure. Recover well, Bro. I hope to see you out there next season (or before)! All the best

I am pretty depressed, I suffered a subluxation and labrum tear in the hip joint at IMLOU and DNFed

Going to the doctor today to have a CAT scan and if necessary a closed reduction to put the hip back in place.
